The inaugural ADREF meeting was held in Sydney on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 March 2005. Attendees included Fellows of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, trainees of the Australasian College of Dermatologists, and dermatology nurses.
The meeting proved to be a great success, with many favourable comments regarding the scope of the meeting and the provision of adequate question and discussion time. The program included presenters from gastroenterology, nephrology and haematology, as well as College Fellows (dermatologists). Sponsored Symposia were introduced to allow Fellows, other speakers and industry to present, discuss and debate issues related to new therapeutic options.
Epiderm was born in 2006 and, under its banner, the second Dermatology Research and Education Update was held in Sydney on Saturday 2 September 2006.
Once again, one of the strengths of the meeting proved to be the well-utilised and generous discussion time. This meeting provided an opportunity for Professor Wolfgang Weninger (who was soon to take over the dermatology reigns at the University of Sydney) and Professor Rodney Sinclair (University of Melbourne), to enthral all attendees with their research visions. Stimulating presentations were also made by dermatopathology and ophthalmology speakers. |
